Point of interest

Near the "Unners Tälli" you can see above the path to the Fiescheralp a straight line that cuts through the valley slope below the vertical rock faces. It is the track of the Suonen Martisbergera (called also Bärgerwissa or Bergerin), which formerly irrigated the territory of the Municipality Martisberg. The Martisbergera was built in 1351, was around 15 km long and its maintenance was very consuming. The water was caught near the Galkina below the Wannenhorn at about 2.400 m a.s.l. and passed through the alps of the Fieschertal, through Fiesch and Lax up to the alps of Martisberg. Around 100 hectares of land were irrigated with this Suonen.
