Marmot Burrow (Murmolt Chumma)

Marmots dig very extensive tunnel systems, which may consist of escape tubes and separate permanent spaces. It is often difficult to distinguish them, since the burrows are not always completed and used. Blind tubes are as well constructed, the "toilets". The tubes may have a length of 10 to 70 meters; the longest measured record was a tunnel of 113 meters length. The trail to the Foggenhorn leads through the  “Murmolt Chumma”, what means marmot area. Therefore it is not surprising that you can see here the cute animals.
