Point of interest

Luogelkin Viaduct

Near to the Train station Hohtenn the path leads through the Luogelkin ditch which is exposed to avalanches. The mountain track of the Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon railway crosses the ditch on the Luogelkin viaduct at an altitude of up to 50 meters and with five characteristic, 20 meters wide arches. The 116 meter long viaduct was completed in 1912 and enlarged to double track in 1986 on the valley side, which can be easily observed due to the clearly visible colour differences of the stones.
